One couple lives in a flat (apt) above the mission office in downtown Wellington. We all met there for the dinner, then we all had tickets to an Improv at the Wellington Planetarium called "War of the World in Wellington". It was actually pretty funny. We also got to tour the exhibits in the planetarium. There is a working telescope there, but it wasn't in use that night. To get to the Planetarium, we drove further into town and rode the cablecar to the top, where the planetarium is.
The following Monday, a lady in the adjacent Ward, who is from the USA and is married to a Kiwi (New Zealander), invited the senior couples, the missionaries from their ward, and several other couples over for a Thanksgiving dinner. There were about 25 people there. Hence the big $120 bird.
Everyone brought food. We brought 2 pumpkin pies. It was a great dinner. (not much camera action tho)
I will definitely appreciate the lower price of turkeys here. The ham with the pineapple looks yummy though!
